Bars that are rocking Valletta’s nightlife scene after sunset

If you experience the city at night than you will find that it has a completely different character from the daytime version. When most shops close for the day, and the workers leave to go back to their homes, Valletta takes on a more distinguished atmosphere. Without the crowds of shoppers and commuters to distract attention, the marvel of architecture and culture takes centre stage over everything else. In the relative stillness, away from the major thoroughfares, you will be able to appreciate more of what Valletta is really like for the locals.

When the sun goes down the streets of the capital city come alive with music and laughter, exciting new bars and nightlife spots, forming part of its regeneration and transformation into a popular nightlife area.
In the past the capital city was known for being a bustling place of activity by day and a ghost town by night. Over the last few years, trendy bars and nightlife hotspots have been throwing open their doors once more, filling the capital with great music and laughter.

The capitol has come a long way though, and it’s finally able to claim some real nightlife. Valletta’s new crop of bars seem to have it all.

The beer cave

From the vibe to the service, you can't go wrong with the Beer Cave. Enthusiastic staff, delicious and great choice of music. Here you can find the largest ever-growing selection of worldwide craft beers in Malta - over 120, along with fresh mouth-watering, homemade food and regular live music events. The Beer Cave was designed within a 450-year old cellar in the Heart of Valletta and offers open-air seating over viewing the beautiful Castille Square.

Tico - Tico

One of the first among the current generation of hotspots is Tico Tico. One of the pioneering bars along this tiny street, with outside tables and relaxed drinking and snacking in Malta's newest yet re-emerging nightlife hub.

It’s a different kind of bar– hidden in the famous strait street of Valletta. The decorations are eclectic & artistic but everything about it is warm and inviting. They provide a perfect environment to kick back, enjoy drinks and chat with friends. Serves bottled beer, though you can never go wrong with a nice cool cockltail or bottle of local beer! This is the place for an occasional jazz night, drinks and tapas, served by bartenders in sailor suits, amid walls hung with pin-ups.

La Bottega

La Bottega is a small cozy place to stop for a drink, either sitting inside or watching the street scene outside. There's a wide collection of drinks and the G&Ts are particularly good. Who needs a cocktail menu when you have a barkeep with an encyclopaedic knowledge! Absolutely delicious and very well priced! You gonna love it!

Carcass - The City Bar

A local embodying the true spirit of Strait Street - Valletta. Held in the same Maltese family for over 4 generations, Carcass - The City Bar has now taken on a new role in this famous narrow street. You will taste the hospitality of the city through its fine collection of spirts, beers and wines served by some wonderful characters who love what they do and the people they meet.
